Open the case back of almost any Pergor Atelier watch and you will find the same engine: the Seiko NH35. It is one of the most respected automatic movements in its class — and a big part of why our watches punch so far above their price.
What is the NH35?
The NH35 is a self-winding mechanical movement from Seiko's movement division. It has earned a reputation as a true workhorse: dependable, robust and easy to service anywhere in the world. You will find it in countless enthusiast and microbrand watches precisely because it simply works.
The features that matter
Three things make the NH35 a favourite. First, it is self-winding — the motion of your wrist keeps it running, with roughly 41 hours of power reserve when you take it off. Second, it hacks: the seconds hand stops when you pull the crown, so you can set the time to the exact second. Third, it can be hand-wound, so you can start it instantly. It beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour, giving that characteristic smooth sweep.
Why we chose it
We could have used a cheaper movement. We didn't, because reliability is the whole point of a watch. The NH35 lets us offer a genuine mechanical experience — no battery, real craftsmanship — without the fragility or cost of a boutique calibre. If it ever needs attention, any competent watchmaker can service it.
Looking after your automatic
An automatic watch likes to be worn. If you rotate watches, give the crown 20-30 gentle turns to start it, then set the time. Avoid changing the date between roughly 9 pm and 3 am. And remember the 3 ATM rating — fine for rain and washing your hands, but keep it away from the pool. More in our FAQ.
